Tailor-made School Trips to Edinburgh & Other Destinations

School trips to edinburgh

School trips to Edinburgh can provide your students with an incredible educational trip to the capital city of Scotland and the second most popular tourist destination in the UK.

This historic city is packed with fabulous cultural attractions that encourage learning and appreciation of culture, from its 900 year old castle to the fascinating ‘Our Dynamic Earth’ science centre, and the Royal Mile running from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace.

Edinburgh’s ‘Old Town’ with its castle, medieval streets and the underground city at Mary King’s Close attracts millions of visitors each year, and is a must-see for any school trip to Edinburgh.

Our experienced trip organisers can help your school incorporate these attractions into your curriculum and guarantee your students get the most from their school trip in Edinburgh.

Groups going on school trips to Edinburgh can choose to stay at Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel or the newly opened Safestay Edinburgh. Both offer high quality group accommodation in the heart of the city.

Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds

A school trip to the birthplace of Shakespeare and home to the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford-upon-Avon can help your students learn more about our greatest playwright in an exciting and stimulating environment. Explore the beautiful town and visit some of the properties connected with William Shakespeare and his family to gain a valuable insight into the life of The Bard, and to develop an appreciation of his greatest works, many of which are part of the national curriculum. Regular educational activities and workshops for school groups take place throughout the year. Further afield, such locations as Warwick Castle, the Black Country Living Museum and Blenheim Palace provide fabulous experiences for school groups - or why not plan a field trip to the city of Oxford and experience the academic atmosphere in one of the world’s most famous universities?

Accommodation is provided at YHA Stratford-Upon-Avon

Newcastle and the North East

United by seven bridges across a spectacular riverscape, Newcastle (a city on the north bank of the River Tyne) and Gateshead (a town on the south bank) form a single, diverse and extremely vibrant visitor destination for school trips. With educational attractions such as the ‘Life’ Science Centre, Seven Stories National Centre for Children’s books, The Discovery Museum, the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and the Blue Reef Aquarium, there is plenty to keep school groups occupied within the city centre. Further afield, field trips to Alnwick Castle and Beamish Open Air Museum are always extremely popular with school groups learning about British history, complementing their regular lessons.

Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors

Visitors and school groups flock year-round to Whitby, a historic town on the Yorkshire coast. The famous abbey ruins on the clifftop and the cobbled Georgian old town below form a beautiful backdrop to days on the sandy beach or strolls around the vibrant harbour.

Captain Cook learned his trade here in the 18th century, while in the 19th century Whitby expanded with the arrival of the railway. Steam trains still serve the town on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering. Pupils studying history can explore the old town and visit the abbey, the Whitby Museum or The Captain Cook Memorial Museum, housed in the harbour front building where Cook lodged as an apprentice seaman. Further afield, day trips to Robin Hood’s Bay, Scarborough with its fabulous Sealife Centre and the historic city of York can all be included.

Accommodation is at YHA Whitby or YHA Boggle Hole.
