Fussell’s Travel Service offers travel packages in three beautiful destinations in The Lakes which include full-board accommodation, transport and the Fussell’s Travel complete booking service. Within this main guideline, trips can then be personalised to satisfy individual requirements and can be tailored to a specific subject.

Lake District

Coniston Village

Within the southern reaches of the Lake District lies Coniston, a beautifully quaint country-side village. Here, Fussell’s Travel Service organises accommodation at the popular Holly How Lakeland house, a perfectly located hostel that will act as a hub for the entirety of the trip. This humble abode is situated in a prime location at the foot of the popular Coniston Fells and just a 10-minute walk from Coniston Lake, the third largest lake in the Lake District. It is also a major Mountain Leader Training and Assessment base.

This location is within close reach of a range of adventurous activities, making it the perfect destination for action-packed days. These outdoor opportunities vary from climbing, abseiling, and mountain walking at Coniston Fells to water sports activities like canoeing and kayaking on Coniston lake. Packing your school trip with activities like these will help your students to develop their ability to make decisions, problem solve and work effectively in a team environment. A simple school trip to the lakes can have long-lasting benefits for students in later life. The Go Ape high ropes course and Brockhole’s tree top adventures are examples of the optional extras that Fussells Travel Service also offers to ensure an unforgettable experience.

Eskdale and Wasdale

Located in the Eskdale and Wasdale valley of west Cumbria, these two scenic destinations appear as though they have been taken straight from a postcard. Secluded in the picturesque corner of the Lake District, Eskdale and Wasdale offer the perfect environment for students to enjoy an informative, entertaining and educational school trip that explores the natural beauty of the national park.

In these locations, Fussell’s Travel Service’s accommodation includes YHA Eskdale, a tranquil hostel nestled between rugged hills and within 15 acres of private grounds and woodland. This destination offers the best of both words because it sits on the edge of arguably the most awe-inspiring wilderness area in the Lakes but remains within easy reach of the west Cumbrian Coast.

YHA Wasdale Hall is a National Trust property set peacefully on the shore of Wastwater Lake and offers a breath-taking view of the waters and surrounding mountains – the spectacular scene has even been named “Britain’s Favourite View”. This hostel sits in the heart of England’s most dramatic valley and is in close reach of the highest mountain in the country.

Fussell’s Travel Service works in partnership with ‘West Lakes Adventure’ to provide a range of outdoor activities during the trips to Eskdale and Wasdale, including paddle boarding, archery and rock climbing. There is even the option to travel by train instead of by coach if this is preferred.
